Scriptorix for Android

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 October 2026 (updated the same day for the feedback form) · Applies to the Scriptorix app (package com.scriptorix.editor) published by BraceCoder.

In short: Scriptorix works entirely on your device. It has no account, no ads and no analytics, and your files never leave your device. The only time it uses the internet is when you choose to send us feedback from ? → Send Feedback. We never sell or share your data.

1. Information we collect

Scriptorix contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software, and you do not need an account to use it. It collects nothing in the background.

Feedback you choose to send. If you open ? → Send Feedback and tap Send, the app sends the following to our server at bracecoder.in over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:

  • whether it is a suggestion or an issue, and the message you typed;
  • your email address, only if you enter one, so we can reply;
  • the app version, your device model and Android version, only if you leave that box ticked.

Like any web server, ours also sees your IP address, which it uses to limit how many reports can be sent in a short time. The app never sends the contents of your files, your file names or anything else from your device.

2. Data kept on your device

To work as an editor, Scriptorix keeps the following on your device only. None of it is ever sent by the app.

  • Files you open. Scriptorix can only open files and folders you choose in Android's file picker, or ones another app sends to it (for example "Open with"). It reads and saves only those files, in the place you chose.
  • Your editing session. Open tabs and the text of unsaved documents are stored in the app's private storage, so your work is restored after the app restarts.
  • Settings and history. Preferences such as theme and font size, the list of recently opened files (their names and locations), and macros you record are stored in the app's private storage.
  • Clipboard. Scriptorix uses the clipboard only when you copy, cut or paste, just like any other editor. It does not read the clipboard in the background.

3. Android backup

If you have turned on Android's device backup (for example Google backup), Android may include Scriptorix's settings, recent-files list and saved macros in that backup, so they come back when you set up a new device. That backup is run by Android and your backup provider, not by BraceCoder, and is covered by their privacy policy. Your editing session and the text of unsaved documents are excluded from backup and device-to-device transfer.

4. Permissions

Scriptorix requests no runtime permissions, so it has no access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts or storage. It gets access to an individual file or folder only when you pick it. You can remove folder access at any time in Android's settings. It has Android's internet permission, which it uses only to send feedback when you tap Send.

5. How feedback is used and shared

Our server does not save your feedback in a database. It emails it to the developer's inbox (bracecoderofficial@gmail.com, a Google Gmail account), where we read it to fix problems, improve Scriptorix and reply to you if you gave an email address. We keep those emails only as long as we need them for that.

We do not sell, rent or share your feedback with anyone else. It passes through our web host's mail server and Google's Gmail service on its way to us. The open-source components built into Scriptorix (the sora-editor text editor and TextMate syntax grammars) run entirely on your device and do not make network connections.

6. Deleting your data

Everything Scriptorix stores lives on your device. To delete it, open Settings → Apps → Scriptorix → Storage and tap Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Files you saved to your own folders stay where you saved them, under your control.

To have feedback you sent deleted, email support@bracecoder.in with the date you sent it (and the email address you used, if any), and we will delete it.

7. Security

Session data and settings are kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Scriptorix also refuses requests from other apps to open its own private files. Feedback is sent only over HTTPS.

8. Children's privacy

Scriptorix is not directed at children under 13, and it collects nothing unless a user chooses to send feedback. If you believe a child has sent us personal information in feedback, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If a future version of Scriptorix changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top before that version is released.
